SEAI Grants

The SEAI offers a variety of grants to help homeowners, businesses, and communities improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. Here’s a breakdown of the main ones.

These are for homeowners who want to make their homes warmer, more energy-efficient, and cheaper to run.

You can apply for a grant for one or more energy upgrades. These include:

  • Attic insulation €800 – €1,500

  • Wall insulation
    Cavity €700 - €1,500
    Internal (Dry Lining) €1,500 - €4,500
    External €3,000 - €8,000

  • Heat pumps €4,500 - €6,500

  • Solar panels Up to €1,800

  • Heating controls Up to €700

You arrange the work yourself and claim the grant afterward or alternatively GFI can arrange the works and claim the grants on your behalf, so you don’t have to manage the paperwork or coordination yourself. This makes the process much easier and quicker for homeowners.

This is ideal for people who want to upgrade their home all at once. An SEAI-registered One Stop Shop manages everything:

  • Full home energy upgrade plan

  • Grants applied on your behalf

  • Project management

  • Finance options (if needed)

Grants cover a large part of the cost, depending on the upgrades:

  • Attic insulation up to €1,500

  • Wall insulation up to €8,000

  • Heat pump system up to €6,500

  • Solar PV panels up to €2,100

  • Heating controls upgrade up to €700

  • Ventilation upgrades approx. €1,500

  • Windows and doors up to €4,000 (where applicable)

  • Project management grant of up to €2,000

All works must be completed by an SEAI-approved One Stop Shop, and homes must reach a minimum BER of B2 after the upgrades. All works must be completed within 12 months.

SEAI offers grants of up to €5,000 for the purchase of new electric cars, plus supports for home EV chargers.

1. Support Scheme for Renewable Heat (SSRH)

Encourages businesses to switch to renewable heating systems — e.g. biomass or heat pumps.

2. Community Energy Grant

Supports community groups, charities, public sector, and private companies who want to collaborate on energy efficiency projects.

You can apply directly on the SEAI website: www.seai.ie

When you upgrade your home through the SEAI grant scheme, you’re not just improving comfort and lowering your energy bills — you can also receive bonus payments from GFI for completing key energy-saving works.
